EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation for the Board of County Commissioners to award Bid 08-5129: Derelict
Vessel Removal for Collier County Coastal Zone Management to Sea Tow for the removal of
Derelict Vessels, in Collier County.
OBJECTIVE: To award bid 08-5129 to Sea Tow to remove derelict vessels from the waters of Collier
County.
CONSIDERATION: Collier County, Coastal Zone Management Department is tasked with removal
of derelict vessels from the waters in and around Collier County. This project will be funded from
Fund 117 in the amount of $100,000.
Invitations to bid (lTB) were issued on September 9, 2008 to solicit bids for these services. Notices
were sent to 17 firms and an additional 25 firms downloaded full packages. Responses were received
from 2 firms by the due date of September 24, 2008. The following firms submitted bids by the due
date:
1. Sea Tow
2. McCulley Marine
In accordance with standard Purchasing Procedures, bid packages were opened on September 24,
2008 and Sea Tow was the lowest bidder. This purchase will be processed through a standard
purchase order.
.- FISCAL IMPACT: Funds in the amount of an $80,000 from a Florida Boating Improvement Program
(FBIP) are available in Fund 117. Also, a Collier County cash match of $20,000 is also in Fund 117 for
the removal of derelict vessels
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: This project has no impact on the Growth Management Plan.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: The County Attorney's Office has reviewed this item, and it is legally
sufficient for Board action. - CMG
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners awards Bid 08-5129 to Sea Tow in
an amount not to exceed $100,000 for the removal of derelict vessels.
