RESOLUTION NO. 2001-129
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA
IN SUPPORT OF SENATE BILL 714,
THE "CITIZENS' RIGHT TO HONEST GOVERNMENT ACT"
WHEREAS, there is pending before the Florida Legislature, presently in session,
Senate Bill 714, an Act entitled and cited as the "Citizens' Right to Honest Government
Act"; and
WHEREAS, such Act, if enacted, authorizes the Office of Statewide Prosecution
to investigate and prosecute violations of Chapter 838, Florida Statutes, and increases
penalties for violations; and
WHEREAS, the public, including the citizens and residents of the State and
Collier County are interested and deserve to have confidence in state and local
government and the public servants comprising same; and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida has
reviewed and considered Senate Bill 714, the "Citizens' Right to Honest Government
Act" and supports its enactment into law.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that:
1) The Board supports the prompt enactment of Senate Bill 714, the "Citizens'
Right to Honest Government Act" into law by the Florida Legislature.
2) The Clerk to the Board is hereby directed to send this Resolution to the
Legislative Delegation for consideration during the 2001 Legislative Session.
