EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation that the Board of County Commissioners authorize staff to revise the
Public Vehicle for Hire Ordinance 2006-59 to remove redundancies, correct flaws,
simplify, aud generally update the ordinance.
OBJECTIVE: To obtain the Board of County Commissioner's (BCC) authorization to remove
redundancies, correct flaws, simplify, and generally update the ordinance.
CONSIDERATION: In reviewing the Public Vehicle for Hire Ordinance No. 2006-59, staff
noticed that there are multiple items included in the Ordinance that need clarification.
In addition, on June 24th, 2008, the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) approved the Public
Vehicle Advisory Committee (PV AC) requests to change the ordinance to establish the change
to the time frame for expiration of Driver Identification (ID) cards to every two years rather than
annually; changing the expiration date of Certificates to Operate (CTO) to November 30th
annually; and adding a section to the VFH Ordinance relating to Specialty Vehicle for Hire
Services. These last three items will be included to the revisions proposed in this summary.
FISCAL IMPACT: None.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This request has been reviewed for legal sufficiency and is
legally sufficient for Board action. -STW
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no growth management impact associated
with this Executive Summary.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners authorizes staff to review
Ordinance 2006-59.
