EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to award Bid #09-5140 "1-75 at Golden Gate Parkway Landscape
Improvements" to Hannula Landscaping, Inc. in the amount of $97,995.75 with
10% contingency of $9,799.58 for a total of $107,795.33 (Project #60043).
OBJECTIVE: Award Bid #09-5140 "[-75 at Go[den Gate Parkway Landscape
Improvements" to Hannula Landscaping, Inc.
CONSIDERATIONS: On October 17, 2008, the Purchasing Department posted the"I-
75 at Golden Gate Parkway Landscape Improvements" for landscaping and irrigation
improvements. Two hundred fifty six notices were sent to vendors and forty-six vendors
downloaded the bid information. On November 7, 2008, six (6) bids were received and
opened. Three vendors were deemed non-responsive. Since the project is LAP funded,
complete documentation is a requirement of responsive bidders. The federal forms were
not included in the bid package therefore eliminating the companies from further
consideration. Since the project is federally funded, local vendor preference is not
applicable. Staffreviewed the unit pricing and recommends awarding the Bid #09-5140
to the apparent, lowest, qualified bidder, Hannula Landscaping Inc.
FISCAL IMPACT: Budget is available within Landscaping Fund (112) project Golden
Gate Interchange at 1-75 (project #6(043). Upon completion of the project, these funds
will be reimbursed to Fund 112 by the Florida Department of Transportation (FOOT).
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed and approved by the
County Attorney's Office, is not quasi-judicial and requires no ex parte disclosure,
requires only a majority vote for approval, and is otherwise legally sufficient for Board
action.-SRT
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There IS no growth management impact
associated with this Executive Summary.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners award Bid #09-
5140 to Hannula Landscaping, Inc. for "1-75 at Golden Gate Parkway Landscape
Improvements"; authorize the Chailman to execute the standard contract after review by
the County Attorney's Office and approve all necessary hudget amendments.
