Backup Documents 04/28/2009 Item # 4D PROCLAMA TION I 4n WHEREAS, the community of Immokalee was identified as having a serious and extensive problem with mobi/e homes and migrant housing that required focused attention to alleviate the deplorable living conditions that were affecting both the migrant population and residents of Immokalee,' and. WHEREAS, the Immoka/ee Housing Initiative was set up in 2002 under the auspices of Code Enforcement which worked diligently to address the issues with substandard and dilapidated housing in Immoka/ee: and. WHEREAS, the Co/lier County Health Department joined the Immokalee Housing Initiative by bringing focused attention to the dep/orable conditions of migrant housing dormitories,' and. WHEREAS, the quarterly reports that have succinctly identified the work necessary to bring up to standard or eradicate the most egregious of the housing units and demonstrated the tremendous success enjoyed by the departments,' and. WHEREAS, the third quarter report showed thot anly 4% of the total units identified as beyond repair are yet to be eliminated.' and. by the end of the third quarter 33 illegal migrant housing investigations were conducted and the appropriate actions taken: and. WHEREAS, the work of the Collier County Health Department and that of CDES Staff is ongoing: and. WHEREAS, the Immokalee Housing Initiative has enjoyed the success of working with groups within the community and hos provided guidance, support, and partnership. NOW THEREFORE- be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida, that the Collier County Health Department And Collier County CDES Departments be congratulated and commended for their exemplary efforts in striving to make the Immokalee Housing Initiative the success it has been.
