Backup Documents 05/26/2009 Item # 4B t'48 I PROCLAMA TION WHEREAS, on April 7, 2009 at the Eagle Lakes Community Park, it was discovered that an exotic algae had killed the fish in the lake. The decaying fish generated a strong, offensive odor that permeated the neighborhood and needed to be removed immediately,' and, WHEREAS, The Collier County Parks and R~creation Department initiated a clean-up and contacted Debbie Vaughn at the Hendry Correctional Institute asking for assistance with the removal of the decaying fish,' and, WHEREAS, an immediate response from Hendry County Correctional Facility and in particular Ben Mount who arranged for Major Soor and eight inmates to assist with the clean-up: and, WHEREAS, Major Soor and the eight inmates arrived at the Park early morning and worked very hard to see the task completed before noon that day,. and, WHEREAS, the residents of Collier County who reside near the Eagle Lakes Community Park and also membrs of tM public who use the parks facility, are truly grateful for the quick response, support and assistance given by Hendry Correctional InstitutiQ/l in removing the decaying fish and thus the odor.
