PROCLAMA TION
WHEREAS, public parks and recreation facilities are dedicated to enhancing
the quality of life for residents of Collier County through
programs, leisure activities, and the abl1ity to enjoy conservation
of green spaces; and,
WHEREAS, parks, recreation, and leisure experiences provide opportunities
for young people to live, grow, and develop into contributing
members of society,' and,
WHEREAS, parks and therapeutic recreational activities create lifelines and
continuous life experiences for older members of the community;
and,
WHEREAS, parks, recreation, and leisure experiences generate opportunities
for people to come together and experience a sense of
community; and,
WHEREAS, employees and local supporters organize youth activities and
provide educational programming on the environment, health,
nutrition, safety and first aid; and,
WHEREAS, employees and local supporters advocate for more open space and
better trails, and ensure parks and recreation facilities are safe
and accessible places for 011 citizens to enjoy.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of
Collier County, Florida the month of July, 2009 as
PARKS AND RECREATION MONTH
and invite all residents and visitors alike to enjoy all our community has
to offer by taking part in their favorite sports, enjoy the outdoors and
spending time with family and friends or just relaxing.
