WHEREAS, the unexplQinQble love Qnd PQssion for softbQII hQS Qllowed the sport to grow,
develop, Qnd mQintQin universQI QPpeQI throughout time Qnd is known as "a game for

WHEREAS, Little LeQgue Baseball, a non-profit organization in the United States which
orgQnizes 10CQI children's bQsebQII Qnd softbQllleQgues throughout the US Qnd the
rest of the world, was founded by Carl Stotz in 1939 as Q three-team league in
WilliQmsport, PennsylvQnia, encourQging 10CQI volunteers to run its progrQms, which
Qre open to children Qges 5 to 18,' and,
WHEREAS, the first Little LeQgue BQsebQII gQme took plQce on June 6, 1939 Qnd the following
year a second league was formed in Williamsport. From there Little League
BQsebQII grew from three teQms in Q smQII PennsylvQniQ town, to Qn internQtionQI
organizQtion of nearly 200,000 teams in every U. S. state, and over 80 countries
QII Qround the world,' and,
WHEREAS, in 1974, Little LeQgue rules were revised to Qllow participQtion by girls,' Qnd,
WHEREAS, girls softbQII hQS helped deVtllop the chQrQcter, discipline, Qnd more particulQrly
that important essence of "teamwork", preparing individuals to have the tools to
exceed in both Qcademics and sports,' and,
WHEREAS, The Golden Gate Little League Girls Softball Team a!JIIS 9 to 10 participated in the
District 27 Championship tournQment the week of June 29, 2009 QgQinst the
Naples Rockets and in a closely contested series won the final game, giving them
the District 27 Championship title for the third consecutive year.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclQimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County,
Florida that we congrQtulQte the finQlists in the District 27 Championships, the
Naples Rockets and in pQrticulQr the Golden GQte Little League Girls Softball Team
players ages 9 to 10 and wish them success as they proceed in their quest to
become State Champions. We salute the team:
