PROCLAMA TION
WHEREAS, Collier County, like many areas of Florida and of the United States in general, is facing
problems of foreclosure and related economic difficulties, with thousands of properties
having been foreclosed to date, and many more thousands facing foreclosure in the
future, the incalculable effect this has on families, neighborhoods and the very essence
of what Collier County stands for as a place to live has prompted a call to action across
the community: and,
WHEREAS, the Collier County Foreclosure Task Force was formed in February of 2008 as a
cooperative effort involving the Legal Aid Service of Collier County and the Collier
County Bar Association to promote foreclosure prevention: and,
WHEREAS, the Collier County Foreclosure Task Force initiative has grown in size and scope to include
numerous other members, including public, private, and non-profit agencies, and has
conducted multiple free foreclosure workshops and pro bono clinics that have assisted
hundreds of homeowners in Collier County at-risk of foreclosure, and thousands more
through a multimedia website it created: and
WHEREAS, the Collier County Foreclosure Task Force is holding a free foreclosure workshop open to
the public on Monday, November 9, 2009 at Gulf Coast High School from 6:00 p.m. to
8:00 p.m. in the school auditorium: and,
WHEREAS, this will be the perfect venue to visit if you, the public, have any questions about
foreclosure, as a large number of pro bono attorneys, os /HII as HUD (Housing and
Urban DevelopIJJellt) CM7ified credit and foreclosure in~ion counselors and
realtors, and a hut of professionals and other agenc~s ,..",..."tatives will be there to
guide you to ~s and tM ossistance that is aVQilablefItJW kJcally for those at risk
of foreclosure: di$!;Ussions will include avoidance of scams, I<<m modification, and how to
market a propill"ty in short sale, among so many other to tM point topics, this event will
also address tenants facing foreclosures and give them the opportunity to find answers,
as well as those ossociated with Homeowners Associations: and,
WHEREAS, there is an unquutionable need within the community for such a workshop, and the
Collier County F~ Task Force earnestly hopes that the full range of information
and assistance that wiD be present will encourage those "..ding help to attend.
NOW THEREFORE, in recognitkNJ of the leadersJlip, prtJ boM service, and dedication to the
community demonstrated by the CDllir County FOfWClosure Task Force members, and to
encourage attendance at the. upcoming fru workshop, be it proclaimed by the Board of
County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida, that November 9, 2009, be designated
as
Collier County Foreclosure Task Force Workshop Day
