A RESOLUT:ION OF THE COLL:IER COUNTY BOARD 01' COUNTY
COMM:ISS:IONERS REQUEBT:ING THE ADD:IT:ION OF :INTERSTATE
H:IGHWAY 75 [:I-75J, STATE ROAD 29 NORTH OF :I-75 AND THE
:IMMORALEE A:IRPORT TO THE FLOR:IDA STRATEG:IC :rNTERHODAL
SYSTEM.
WHEREAS, the recently updated 2020 Florida Transportation
Plan identified significant Changes that will OCcur over the
next 20 years; and
WHEREAS, these Changes will have a dramatic effect on
Florida's transportation system; and
WHEREAS, Florida'S future economic health will depend on a
system that can successfully move growing numbers of residents
and tourists and transport goods within Florida and to and from
the United States and international markets; and
WHEREAS, by 2020, Florida will add about 5 million new
residents, imports and exports are expected to double, and the
number of tourists is expected to reach nearly 85 million; and
WHEREAS, Collier County is also expected to experience
rapid growth and increased transportation needs, and
WHEREAS, to meet the needs generated by such dynamic growth
will require investments of statewide funds in a well-Planned
transportation system that efficiently connects the various
forms of travel; and
WHEREAS, our limited resources must be fOcused on statewide
and regional priorities that are essential to Florida's economy
and quality of life.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE :IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMM:rSS:IONERS OF COLL:IER COUNTY, FLOR:IDA, that:
:rnterstate Highway 75 [:r-75J, State Road 29 North of :I-75 and
the :Immokalee Airport be added to the Florida Strategic
:rntermodal System.
