Resolution 2002-363 16810 RESOLUTION NO. 2002-~ A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A SPEED LIMIT REDUCTION FROM THIRTY MILES PER HOUR (30 MPH) TO TWENTY -FIVE MILES PER HOUR (25 MPH) ON 13TH STREET SW FROM GOLDEN GATE BOULEVARD TO 16TH AVENUE SW. WHEREAS, Chapter 316, Florida Statutes, permits the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) to alter established speed limits on roads under its jurisdiction; and WHEREAS, 13th Street SW falls under the jurisdiction of the BCC; and WHEREAS, in accordance with Chapter 316, Florida Statutes, the BCC may alter such existing speed limits as may be appropriate upon the basis of an engineering and traffic investigation; and WHEREAS, the results of the County's engineering and traffic investigation concluded that reducing the speed limit from 30 mph to 25 mph is reasonable and safer than present conditions and it conforms to criteria promulgated by the County. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF COUlER COUNTY, FLORIDA THAT: SECTION 1: The BCC does hereby establish a twenty-five miles per hour (25 MPH) speed limit on 13th Street SW from Golden Gate Boulevard to 16th Avenue SW and does hereby direct the County Transportation Operations Department to erect appropriate speed limit signs giving notice thereof. SECTION 2: A copy of this Resolution shall be forwarded to the Collier County Sheriff's Office for proper enforcement of the established speed limit for 13th Street SW within the designated segment. SECTION 3: The effective date of the speed limit reduction shall be after written notification to the Sheriff's Office and upon posting of appropriate signage.
