Resolution 2002-326 16K2 RESOLUTION 2002-1?f\ A RESOLUTION, PURSUANT TO SECTION 101.031, FLORIDA STATUTES, AUTHORIZING BOUNDARY CHANGES TO PRECINCTS 255, 256, 257, 626, 627, AND 632, WHICH WERE NECESSITATED BY RECENT ALTERATIONS TO STATE HOUSE DISTRICT 112; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, on June 25, 2002, the Collier County Board of County Commissioners approved numerous precinct changes; WHEREAS, since the above-mentioned Board action, the boundaries of State House District 112 were altered by the Legislature in order to comply with federal guidance; WHEREAS, section 101.001, Florida Statutes, authorizes the board of county commissioners in each county, upon recommendation and approval of the supervisor, to alter or create precincts for voting in the county; WHEREAS, it is the intent of the Supervisor of Elections, where possible, to create precincts that follow census tract boundaries and minimize the number of split precincts; WHEREAS, the Supervisor of Elections recommends and approves alterations to those precincts impacted by the newly reconfigured State House District 112; WHEREAS, proper consideration was given to minority populations in making the requested changes; WHEREAS, all voting precincts in Collier County are numbered, contiguous, and, as nearly as practicable, compact; WHEREAS, the Supervisor of Elections has designated or will designate a polling place at a suitable location for all precincts; WHEREAS, prior to the upcoming election cycle, new voter identification cards, which contain information on voting districts and polling place location, will be issued to all Collier County voters, and sample ballots will be mailed to all voter households in Collier County; WHEREAS, a precinct locator will be created and posted on the Supervisor's website at http://www.colliergov.netlelections; WHEREAS, a precinct map will be published in the local newspaper prior to this year's election cycle, and precinct maps will be posted in at least ten (10) conspicuous places in Collier County pursuant to Division of Elections Rule IS-2.033(9); WHEREAS, the Supervisor of Elections, in accordance with section 101.001, Florida Statutes, will maintain a suitable map drawn to a scale no smaller than 3 miles to the inch and clearly delineating all major observable features such as roads, streams, and railway lines and showing the current geographical boundaries of each precinct, representative district, and senatorial district, and other type of district in the county subject to the elections process in the Florida Statutes; WHEREAS, the Supervisor of Elections will notify the Secretary of State in writing within 30 days of this reorganization of precincts and will furnish a copy of the map showing the current geographical boundaries and designation for each precinct, in accordance with section 101.001, Florida Statutes; and WHEREAS, within 10 days after the precinct changes recommended herein are adopted the Supervisor of Elections will post a copy of the document describing such changes in the Supervisor's office, in accordance with section 101.001, Florida Statutes. 16K2 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT NOW RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that Precincts 255, 256, 257, 626, 627 and 632 are altered in the manner described in the attached exhibits (Exhibits A and BI-B6).
