A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA, RENAMING THE EAGLE LAKES
COMMUNITY PARK TO THE "DONNA FIALA EAGLE LAKES
COMMUNITY PARK."
WHEREAS, Commissioner Donna Fiala has represented the residents of District 1 since
the year 2000, during which she has worked tirelessly to improve her community; and
WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 2014-120, the Board of County Commissioners (Board)
designated the new community center in the Eagle Lakes Community Park as the "Donna Fiala
Community Center"in recognition of"her devotion and accomplishments as a valued government
representative to its people;"and
WHEREAS, in accordance with Collier County's policy for naming a County-owned
building, structure, or facility to honor a natural person, Mr. Phillip Brougham applied to the
County Manager to rename the Eagle Lakes Community Park to the "Donna Fiala Community
Park;" and
WHEREAS, this application includes the following basis for the request:
"Commissioner Donna Fiala has been a resident of East Naples since 1974;
a County Commissioner since 2000; a champion for her community and passionate
about providing Parks&Recreation for Collier County children. She has steadfastly
worked to improve all parks in the County. Her "special place" is Eagle Lakes
Community Park, recently enhanced by a Community Center and a state-of-the-art
Aquatic Center. It is indeed fitting and proper that this park be re-named in her
honor. "
WHEREAS,the Board finds that this application meets the criteria set forth in the Collier
County policy for naming a County-owned building, structure, or facility.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF COLLIER COUNTY,FLORIDA,that the Eagle Lakes Community Park
is hereby renamed the "Donna Fiala Eagle Lakes Community Park" in recognition of
Commissioner Fiala's dedication to this facility,her community, and Collier County.
