Resolution 2002-300 RESOLUTION 2002- 300 16K4 A RESOLUTION PURSUANT TO SECTION 101.031, FLORIDA STATUTES, CREATING VOTING PRECINCTS 407,409,410,412,413,655,790 AND 792; ELIMINATING VOTING PRECINCTS 252, 617, 624, 633, 636, 661, 655, 669, 670, 673, 676, 678, AND 793; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DA TE. WHEREAS, local, state and federal districts have been significantly realigned as a result of the 2000 census; WHEREAS, ~ 101.001, Florida Statutes, authorizes the board of county commissioners in each county, upon recommendation and approval of the supervisor, to alter or create precincts for voting in the county; WHEREAS, such recommendation and approval has been given by the Supervisor of Elections in order to (I) promote efficiency by combining small precincts and dividing large precincts and (2) reduce voter confusion by minimizing the number of split precincts; WHEREAS, each precinct is numbered and, as nearly as practicable, composed of contiguous and compact areas. WHEREAS, the Supervisor of Elections has designated or will designate a polling place at a suitable location within each precinct; WHEREAS, the Supervisor of Elections, in accordance with ~ 101.001, Florida Statutes, will maintain a suitable map drawn to a scale no smaller than 3 miles to the inch and clearly delineating all major observable features such as roads, streams, and railway lines and showing the current geographical boundaries of each precinct, representative district, and senatorial district, and other type of district in the county subject to the elections process in the Florida Statutes; WHEREAS, the Supervisor of Elections will notify the Secretary of State in writing within 30 days of this reorganization of precincts and will furnish a copy of the map showing the current geographical boundaries and designation of each new precinct, in accordance with ~ 101.001, Florida Statutes; and WHEREAS, within 10 days after the precinct changes recommended herein are adopted the Supervisor of Elections wi II post a copy of the document descri bing such changes in the Supervisor's office, in accordance with 9 101.001, Florida Statutes. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT NOW RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that voting precincts 4()7, 409, 410, 412,413,655,790 and 792 are hereby created and voting precincts 252, 617,624,633,636,661, 655, 669, 670, 673, 676, 678, and 793 are hereby eliminated, as listed in Exhibit A, described in Exhibits BI-B5, shown in Exhibits CI-C5, and made part of this Resolution. The Office of the Supervisor of Elections is hereby requested to prepare legal descriptions corresponding to the changes described in the exhibits attached to and incorporated into this Resolution for review and approval by the County Attorney.
