EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to authorize budget amendments to recognize revenue, in the amount of
$39,752.76, within Stormwater Capital Fund (325), Immokalee Stormwater Improvement Project
(60143), for the Eden Gardens Offsite Bypass Drainage Improvements and North Third Street
Drainage Improvements.
OBJECTIVE: For the Board of County Commissioners to authorize budget amendments to recognize
revenue, in the amount of $39,752.76, for two (2) Immokalee stormwater improvement projects.
CONSIDERATIONS: In September 2017, after Hurricane Irma, Growth Management Department
(GMD) staff received flood complaints from Immokalee residents for four specific areas: Lake Trafford
Memorial Gardens; Immokalee First United Methodist Church; North Third Street; and, Eden Gardens.
GMD staff proposed corrective projects to address the flooding issues and presented them with the
estimated costs to both the Immokalee CRA Advisory Board and MSTU Advisory Board for funding
assistance.
The Immokalee CRA and MSTU Advisory Boards voted unanimously to provide funding assistance for a
combined fifty-percent (50%) of the projected total cost of $95,000 for engineering and design work for
the North Third Street and Eden Gardens projects; and, construction for the Lake Trafford M emorial
Gardens and Immokalee First United Methodist Church projects. The Stormwater Management Section
provided the upfront costs to complete the engineering and design work for North Third Street and Eden
Gardens; reimbursement by the CRA and MSTU to cover a portion of these costs will occur through a
fund transfer, as part of these requested budget amendments. (The Lake Trafford Memorial Gardens and
Immokalee First United Methodist Church projects were completed by other County Divisions.)
FISCAL IMPACT: Approved reimbursements for engineering and design of the Eden Gardens offsite
bypass drainage improvements and the North Third Street drainage improvements total $39,752.76 -
$19,000 and $20,752.76 respectively. Budget amendments are required to recognize revenue of
$39,752.76 within Stormwater Capital Fund (325), Project 60143.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no Growth Management Plan impact associated with
this action.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney, does not present a
legal issue, and requires a majority vote for Board approval. -JAK

amount of $39,752.76, within Stormwater Capital Fund (325), Immokalee Stormwater Improve ment
