canGls, preventing Iit-ter, and encouraging recycling in their Golden Gate neighborhood:

WHEREAS, Brian, Sarah, and Matthew made a positive difference to reduce the amount of soiid
waste going to the landfill, and created a clean and attractive neighborhood by pulling
debris out of the canal to be recycled or reused: an~
WHEREAS, forty to sixty percent of roadside litter consists of beverage containers that create
an aesthetic nuisance, ends up in canals, and threatens public safety and domestic
Qnd wild animals: an~
WHEREAS, Brian, Sarah, and Matthew set an excellent example for other young citizens of
Collier County to make a difference in any community by preventing litter and helping
to keep their community in a pristine state: and,
WHEREAS, young citizens of Collier County can do sa much to prevent litter in the community and
contribute to building a healthy and safe neighborhood by spending a little time pulling
garbage from the canals in their community.
NOW TI-fEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County,
F/orJda, that November 10, 2009, be designated as
KEEPING COLLIER NEIGHBORHOODS CLEAN AND SAFE DA Y
and urging everyone to join Brian, Sarah and Matthew in celebrating this day.
