EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
COMMISSIONER REQUEST FOR BOARD APPROVAL FOR PAYMENT TO
ATTEND FUNCTION SERVING A VALID PUBLIC PURPOSE
OBJECTIVE: For the Board of County Commissioners to declare a valid public
purpose for a Commissioner to attend function/event and approve payment by
the Clerk.
CONSIDERATIONS: Pursuant to Resolution No. 99-410, the Board of County
Commissioners has determined that attendance at the functions of fraternal,
business, environmental, educational, charitable, social, professional, trade,
homeowners, ethnic, and civic association/organizations serves a valid public
purpose, provided that said functions reasonably relate to Collier County matters.
COMMISSIONER: Donna Fiala
FUNCTION/EVENT: Bridge Recognition Dinner
PUBLIC PURPOSE: Meet and interact with local business and community
leaders.

DATE OF FUNCTION/EVENT: September 3, 2009
FISCAL IMPACT: $30.00 Funds to be paid from Commissioner's travel budget.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners, in accordance
with Resolution No. 99-410, approve payment by the Clerk for Commissioner
Donna Fiala to attend function serving a valid public purpose.

Thanks so much. We were inviting Commisioner Fiala as our guest at no charge. If, for some reason
she must pay herself, then the cost is $30 per person with a check made out to "Joe Granda" that she
can bring with her the night of the dinner. Thanks again and we are all looking forward to seeing

Hi Donna,
Hope all is well. Europe was great but glad to be back. Wanted to let you know that we have decided
to hold a special, invitation only, "Bridge Recognition Dinner" on Thursday, September 3 at 6:30 pm
at Erin's Isle. That is the day that the bids for the bridge will be opened and a public announcement
made as to who the successful bidder was. We felt this was a great milestone to celebrate.The plan is
to invite those people who played a key role in the City getting a second bridge and to recognize their
great achievement. Although he doesn't know it, this dinner get together will also be used as a special
recognition for Mike Minozzi's individual effort in getting the bridge. As such, we are also inviting
those people we feel are especially close to Mike, both as friends and co-workers. Donna, it would be

great if you could come as our guest. Of everyone involved, you had both the mos~rRfFu~~~i~~~
great success story and are a great friend of Mike's. It would also be great if you could say a few
words that evening. Our plan is to invite only about 30-35 people. Really hope you can make this
