EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to approve an amendment to Contract #1904 between the Board
of Collier County Commissioners and Florida Department of Agriculture and
Consumer Services, Division of Forestry, for fire protection of forest and wild lands
within Collier County.
OBJECTIVE: For the Board of County Commissioners to approve an amendment to
the contract between the County and the Florida Department ,f Agriculture and

Consumer Services, Division of Forestry dated July 1, 1 988, to decrease the fire
protection acreage from 401,814 acres to 392,538 acres.
CONSIDERATIONS: Section 125.27, Florida Statutes (2008), provides that each
county shall enter into agreements fOr the establishment and maintenance of countywide
fire protection of all forest and wild lands within said county. Further each county shall,
under the terms of a joint agreement between the county and the Department of
Agriculture and Consumer Services, be assessed each fiscal year, as its share of the cost
of providing such fire protection, a sum in dollars equal to the total forest and wild land
acreage of the county, as deter-rnined by the Department, multiplied by seven cents (S.07).
This amendment reduces the number- of acres that Collier County is required to pay the
Department for its provision of fire protection services.
FISCAL IMPACT: The funds will be paid from 111- 144399 MSTD General Fund,
Division of Forestry Services and are included in the FYI 0 budget.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney's
Office. It requires simple majority vote acid is legally sufficient for Board action. — CMG
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no growth management impact
associated with this Executive Summary.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of Collier County Commissioners approves
the attached amendment to Contract 41904 dated Julv 1. 1988 to decrease the forest and
wild land protection from 401.814 to 392,538 acres in Collier County and authorizes the
Chairman to sign the amended agreement.

RE: Amendment of Contract # 1904 dated 08/22/88.
This letter, upon execution by both parties and attachment to the original contract shall
serve to amend said contract. The contract shall be amended as follows:
Paragraphs 1 & 2, are amended as follows:

1. The Department shall provide fire protection for 401,814 acres of forest and wildlands within
County.
2. The County shall, under the terms of this agreement; pay to the Department annually as its share of
the cost of providing such fire protection, $28,126.98, said receipts to be deposited as prescribed by
Florida Statute.

2. The County shall, under the terms of this agreement; pay to the Department annually its share of the
cost of providing such fire protection $27,477.66, said receipts to be deposited as prescribed by Florida

ALTERED BY THIS AMENDMENT.
