EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to award Bid #09 -5240 "Locksmith Hardware" to multiple
vendors listed; Interline Brands, Inc. D /B /A Sexauer, Independent Hardware, Inc.,
Accredited Lock Supply, Southern Lock & Supply Co., and Clark Security
Products, Inc.
OBJECTIVE: To obtain approval from the Board of County Commissioners to award Bid #09-
5240 "Locksmith Hardware" to multiple vendors listed; Interiine Brands, Inc. D /B /A Sexauer,
Independent Hardware, Inc., Accredited Lock Supply, Southern Lock & Supply Co., and Clark
Security Products, Inc.
CONSIDERATIONS: Facilities Management is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and
replacement of all County -owned buildings and properties. Through the competitive bid process,
private contractors are solicited to submit bids providing the needed services to ensure County
properties are functional and safe and secure.
On April 23, 2009, the Purchasing Department solicited bids for locksmith hardware. Thirty —
three (33) packages were downloaded with five contractors meeting the requirements outlined
by this bid request. Staff is recommending a multiple award to the following five vendors;
Interline Brands, Inc. D /B /A Sexauer, Independent Hardware, Inc., Accredited Lock Supply,
Southern Lock & Supply Co., and Clark Security Products, Inc. There are five vendors because
each vendor carries a specific line of product depending on the locking system used in the
building. One vendor does not carry all the product lines needed to maintain the buildings.
FISCAL IMPACT: Annual expenses for locksmith hardware total an estimated $60,000. Funds
are budgeted under Facilities Management's operating budget cost center 001 - 122240.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item is ready for Board consideration and approval. No ex
parte disclosures are required. A majority vote is necessary for Board action—HFIIA
GROWTH MANAGEMENT: There is no impact on the Collier County Growth Management
Plan.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of Collier County Commissioners approves the award of
Bid #09 -5240 "Locksmith Hardware" to multiple vendors listed; Interline Brands, Inc. D /B /A
Sexauer, Independent Hardware, Inc., Accredited Lock Supply, Southern Lock & Supply Co.,
and Clark Security Products, Inc. as described within this summary.
