EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to approve a Budget Amendment appropriating additional
funds received in the Freedom Memorial Fund (Fund 620).
OBJECTIVE: Obtain approval from the Board of County Commissioners of a budget
amendment appropriating additional funds received in the Freedom Memorial Fund (620)
throughout Fiscal Year 2009.
CONSIDERATIONS: In 2005 the Collier County Board of Commissioners established that there
was a valid public purpose for the solicitation and receipt of donations to construct a Freedom
Memorial (Resolution 2005 -259). In order to provide for the design and construction of the
Memorial, the Freedom Memorial Fund (620) was established. Funding for the construction of
the Freedom Memorial is provided by grants and contributions, including funding from the
Tourist Development Council (TDC).
Within Fiscal Year 2009, the Freedom Memorial Fund (620) has received $64,953 in matching
reimbursements, and now seeks to appropriate those funds in order to provide for further
construction costs.
FISCAL IMPACT: A budget amendment of $64,953 is recommended, in order to appropriate
funds received throughout the year so that they may be expended.

Amendment appropriating $64,953 in the Freedom Memorial Fund (Fund 620) for the purpose
of continuing the construction of the Freedom Memorial.
