EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommend that the Board of County Commissioners approve a Budget
Amendment in the amount of $104,220.57 consolidating current funding for Fixed
Term Physical Monitoring under Contract 08 -5124 to Project No. 90536.
OBJECTIVE: To establish budget for fixed term physical monitoring within one funded
program element within beach renourishment/pass maintenance fund (195).
CONSIDERATIONS: On March 24, the Board of County Commissioners approved
three firms to provide fixed term physical monitoring services under contract 08 -5124.
Subsequent to this action, Coastal Planning and Engineering pursuant to the "Best
Value Offer' (BVO) was award bid to proceed with specific and defined physical
monitoring services under contract 08- 5124 -1 for a not to exceed amount of
$231,021.64. Funding for physical monitoring is currently budgeted within Fund (195)
under several different funded programs — designated by project. The proposed budget
amendment would consolidate available budget from several funded programs into one
funded program.
Physical Monitoring consist of the following activities:
✓ Beach physical survey for width and height of the beach including a bathometric
-- (underwater) survey to a depth of minus 10 feet every 100 feet of beach length in
each region identified.
✓ Navigational channel and interior hydrographic survey of listed inlets.
✓ Aerial photography rectified and per FDEP standards.
✓ Site -scan sonar of nearshore hardbottom edge identification.
✓ Data reduction.
✓ Report and analysis.
The Collier County beaches and inlets that are included in this project are as follows:
1. Vanderbilt Beach physical beach monitoring
2. Park Shore Beach physical beach monitoring
3. Naples Beach physical monitoring
4. South Marco Beach physical monitoring
5. Hideaway Beach and T- Groins physical monitoring
6. Delnor- Wiggins State Park Beach physical monitoring
7. Clam Pass Beach physical monitoring
8. Wiggins Pass Inlet/interior channel /borrow area monitoring
9. Clam Pass inlet and interior channel monitoring
10. Doctors Pass inlet and interior channel monitoring
11. Caxambas Pass inlet/borrow area monitoring
12. Hideaway beach borrow area monitoring
FISCAL IMPACT: The requested budget amendment totals $104,220.57 and available
budget within Fund (195) will be moved from funded programs 90017, 90036, 90500
and 90033 to 90536. Reserves will not be impacted and the fund total will not change.

GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: While these contracts have no direct growth
management impact, they are consistent with the County's long -term growth plans.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed i and approved by the
County Attorney's Office. This item is not quasi-judicial, and as such ex parte disclosure
is not required. This item requires majority vote only. This item is legally sufficient for
Board action. - CMG
RECOMMENDATION: Recommend that the Board of County Commissioners approve
a Budget Amendment in the amount of $104,220.57 consolidating current funding for
Fixed Term Physical Monitoring under Contract 08 -5124 to Project No. 90536.
