EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Award a contract for Bid 09-5164, "Collier Area Transit (CAT) Bus Shelters and Related
Items," to RCP Shelters Inc., DUO-Gard Industries, Inc., Wausau Tile Inc., Brasco
Enterprises, Inc., and Swartz Associates, Inc. in the estimated annual amount of $100,000
OBJECTIVE: To obtain the Board's approval to enter into a contract with multiple firms in
order to provide bus shelters and related supplies for the Collier Area Transit (CAT) program on
an as needed basis. This will include providing the shelters for new installations and
repairing/maintaining existing facilities.
CONSIDERATIONS: On February 24,2009, sixty six (66) notices of the bid solicitation were
sent out. A total of fifty-five (55) firms requested the full bid package, and on April 14, 2009,
six (6) firms submitted bids (one was deemed non-responsive). Staff recommends awarding
contracts to those five (5) responsive bidders: RCP Shelters Inc., DUO-Gard Industries, Inc.,
Wausau Tile Inc., Brasco Enterprises, Inc., and Swartz Associates, Inc. to perform work on an as
need basis.
FISCAL IMPACT: Funds for these services shall come from each individual department using
previously identified dollars budgeted for such projects.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed and approved by the County
Attorney's Office, is not quasi-judicial and requires no ex parte disclosure, requires only a
majority vote for approval, and is otherwise legally sufficient for Board action.-SRT
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: While this has no direct impact on the Growth
Management Plan, it is consistent with the goals of the County to streamline and expedite the
procurement of services.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners award Bid 09-5164 for
"Collier Area Transit (CAT) Bus Shelters and Related Items" to RCP Shelters Inc., DUO-Gard
Industries, Inc., Wausau Tile Inc., Srasco Enterprises, Inc., and Swartz Associates, Inc. to
perform work on an as need basis.
