Agenda 06/09/2009 Item #16D 4 Agenda Item No. 16D4 June 9, 2009 Page 1 of 2 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Recommendation to approve a budget amendment in the amount of $672,993 to ensure continuous funding of the Community Care for the Elderly grant for the Services for Seniors program from the Area Agency on Aging and authorize eligible expenditures prior to the execution of the agreement. OBJECTIVE: To amend the Community Care for the Elderly (CCE) grant operating budget at FY08-09 continuation funding levels to allow for uninterrupted support services to Services for Seniors' frail, elderly clients. CONSIDERA TIONS: Collier County Services for Seniors has been providing in-home support services to Collier County's frail elderly for over 30 years through the Community Care for the Elderly program. Historically, Collier County Services for Seniors receives the continuation agreement during the latter part of June, for the upcoming grant cycle which runs July 1, 2009 through June 30, 2010. When the agreement is received in late June 2009, a budget amendment will be prepared to reflect the actual allocation. The total anticipated grant amount of $672,993 is funded from the State of Florida grants and aids appropriation. The following table outlines the budget amendment which is necessary to recognize the grant revenue and appropriate expenditures: CCE Grant In Home Services Total County Match from Fund (123) Reserves $97,100 $0.00 $97,100 Grant Funds $213,949 $459,044 $672,993 Total Appropriations $311,049 $459,044 $770,093 FISCAL IMPACT: FY09 budget in Services for Seniors fund (123) will increase by $672,993. Required matching funds in the amount of $97,100 have already been budgeted for FY09. GROWTH MANAGEMENT: recommendation. There is no growth management impact from this LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed and approved by the County Attorney's Office, This item is not quasi judicial, and as such ex parte disclosure is not required. This item requires majority vote only. This item is legally sufficient for Board action.- CMG RECOMMENDATIONS: Staff recommends that the Board of County Commissioners approve the necessary budget amendment to ensure uninterrupted services to elderly clients and authorize eligible expenditures prior to the execution of the agreement.
