EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to appoint a member to the Tourist Development Council.
OBJECTIVE: To appoint one new member to the Tourist Development Council, to fill the remainder of
a vacant term expiring on April 21, 2020.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Tourist Development Council (TDC) is a 9 member council created on
March 23, 1992 by Ord. No. 92-18 to make recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners
regarding a proposed plan of uses for tourist development tax revenues, for the effective oper ation of the
special projects or uses of the tourist development tax revenues, and to review all expenditures of
revenues from the tourist development trust fund. Membership consists of the Chairman of the BCC, 3
owner/operators, 3 non-owner/operators and 2 elected municipal officials. Terms are 4 years. A list of the
current membership is included in the backup.
Mr. Dan Sullivan resigned effective June 1, 2019, leaving a vacant seat. The vacancy was advertised and
the following applications were received:

COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: At its meeting on May 30, 2019, the TDC considered the
applications and voted unanimously to recommend that Ms. Cox be appointed to fill the vacant seat on
the TDC, which shall expire on April 21, 2020. A recommendation memo is included in the backup to
this item.
FISCAL IMPACT: None.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: None.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners adopts the Committee
Recommendation, and directs the County Attorney to prepare a resolution confirming the appointment.
