EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to authorize the Chairman to accept a grant of contractor
services from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC),
Contract #08148-SW-127 in the amount of $59,345, to remove invasive exotic
vegetation within Conservation Collier property adjacent to Rookery Bay National
Estuarine Research Reserve (NERR),
OBJECTIVE: To have the Board of County Commissioners authorize the Chairman to accept a
grant of state contractor services from the FWC for the removal of invasive exotic vegetation
within the Conservation Collier property known as the Malt property.
CONSIDERATION: The Upland Plant Management Program within FWC funds individual
invasive plant removal projects on public conservation lands throughout the State. FWC will pay
a state contractor for work that will be performed on Conservation Collier property, This task will
be completed by a state contractor prior to June 30, 2009, the end date of the State of Florida
Purchase Order that has been issued for this project. No funds will be transferred to Collier
County,
A grant proposal for this project was approved for submittal by the Board on September 13, 2005
(Item # 16A30).

FISCAL IMPACT: Through a State of Florida Purchase Order issued under Contract #08148-
SW-127, FWC will pay a state contractor $59,345 for the removal of invasive exotic vegetation
within Collier County property, There will be no fiscal impact to the County.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: This proposal supports Objectives 6.2 and 7,3 of the
Conservation and Coastal Management Element of the County Growth Management Plan. which
require the County to protect and conserve wetlands and the natural functions of wetlands and
continue to implement programs that conserve and protect endangered and threatened wildlife
species,
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This Executive Summary has been reviewed for legal sufficiency
and is legally sufficient for Board action. This item is not quasi judicial, and as such ex parte
disclosure is not required. This item requires majority vote only. (STW)
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners authorizes the Chairman to
accept a grant of contractor services from FWC to remove invasive exotic vegetation within
Conservation Collier property adjacent to Rookery Bay NERR.
