Agenda 05/26/2009 Item #16D 4 Agenda Item No. 1604 May 26, 2009 Page 1 of 5 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Recommendation to approve and authorize the Chairman to sign an amendment between Collier County Board of County Commissioners and the Area Agency on Aging for Southwest Florida, Inc., which reflects a net decrease in grant funding in the amount of $4,800 for the Home Care for the Elderly (HCE) Program for 2009. OBJECTIVE: To amend the 2009 Home Care for the Elderly (HCE) grant agreement between the Board of County Commissioners and the Area Agency on Aging. This amendment reflects a net decrease of $4,800 in funding. CONSIDERATIONS: Collier County Services for Seniors provides in-home support services to Collier County's frail elderly through funding from the Home Care for the Elderly (HCE) grant received from the State of Florida Department of Elder Affairs. This grant is funded from the State's general revenue. The amendment decreases the subsidy funds by $5,048 and increases the case management funds by $248. The decrease in funding for HCE subsidies in the amount of $5,048 will affect funds that are retained by the grantor agency. However, only the revenue from HCE case management components of the grant will affect the County budget. Therefore, the total fiscal impact on the County budget will be an increase of$248. ,- The total grant award now amounts to $72,571 and is for the period July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009. The original agreement was approved by the BCC on 10/14/08 item 16D25. An amendment for the reduced funding must be signed by the Chairman.
