WHEREAS, the Collier County Recycling Ordinance Number 2009-56, established the Waste
Reduction Awards Program (the WRAP award); and,
WHEREAS, the WRAP award recognizes businesses, institutions, and multi-family residences
for enhanced and innovative recycling programs; and,
WHEREAS, Naples Zoo at Caribbean Gardens contributes to the greater good of Collier County
by advocating the "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" message, thereby helping to prolong the
usable life of the Collier County Landfill; and,
WHEREAS, Naples Zoo at Caribbean Gardens, reuse and source reduction program includes:
• Annual recycling of 880 cubic yards of plastic, glass, aluminum, paper and cardboard.
• Guest benches in the zoo are constructed of recycled plastic lumber.
• Public trash and recycling containers are made from recycled plastic milk containers.
• Recycled items such as cardboard tubes and boxes are used re-used for animal
enrichment.
• Many gift store items are made from recycled materials.
• Recycled paper products are used in the restrooms.
• Interpretive graphics are printed with water-based inks on recycled content aluminum.
• Recycled or Forest Stewardship Council paper are used for printed materials.
• Landscape debris is chipped/composted.
WHEREAS, the WRAP award program includes a plaque and space on the county's website
showcasing eco-friendly business practices and recycling programs; and,
WHEREAS, the Solid and Hazardous Waste Management Division congratulates Naples Zoo at
Caribbean Garden's, Director of Gardens and Grounds, Danielle Green.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County,
Florida, that we congratulate
NAPLES ZOO AT CARIBBEAN GARDENS
