Agenda 05/28/2019 Item #16J 2 (Sherriff's SCAAP Grant Award)05/28/2019 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Recommendation to approve the FY 2019 SCAAP letter delegating authority to Sheriff Kevin Rambosk to be the official grant applicant and contact person, or his designee, and to receive, expends the payment and make any necessary budget amendments of the FY 2019 of the State Criminal Alien Assistance Program (SCAAP) grant funds. OBJECTIVE: To seek consent from the Board of County Commissioners to delegate authority to Sheriff Kevin Rambosk to apply for FY 2019 of State Criminal Alien Assistance Program (SCAAP) grant funds and sign a delegation of authority letter stating the same. CONSIDERATION: On October 23, 2018 the Board designated Sheriff Kevin Rambosk as the applicant, signing official and contact person for the FY 2018 State Criminal Alien Assistance Program (SCAAP) funding. A letter delegating authority was signed by the BCC Chair Andy Solis in October 2018. Current Board approval is requested designating authority to Sheriff Kevin Rambosk to be the official 2019 grant applicant and contact person, or his designee, and to receive, expend the payment and make any necessary budget amendments for the FY 2019 State Criminal Alien Assistance Program (SCAAP) grant funds. FISCAL IMPACT: The potential award of SCAAP funding is for costs associated with the incarceration of aliens. The amount of grant funding is unknown but is based upon the number of aliens incarcerated and the agency’s associated corrections salary expenses between July 1, 2017 and June 30, 2018. This is an outright award with no required local match. LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney, is approved as to form and legality, and requires majority vote for approval. -JAK GROWTH MANAGEMENT: None.
