EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to recognize Sam Frye, Administrative Assistant,
Information Technology, as Employee of the Month for April 2009.
OBJECTIVE: To obtain approval from the Board of County Commissioners to recognize
Sam Frye, Administrative Assistant, Information Technology. as Employee of the Month
for April 2009.
CONSIDERATIONS: Sam Frye, Administrative Assistant, has been nominated as the
"Employee of the Month" for April 2009. Sam has been an employee of the County for
over 10 years and has worked in the Information Technology Department since 2000.
Sam's administrative abilities have always been an asset to the Information Technology
Department and their complex and diverse operations. She is a team player who
completes tasks efficiently and provides extraordinary customer service. She is always
professional and courteous and the department receives frequent compliments from
vendors and customers about her. Sam can always be counted on to provide
assistance to her coworkers and is proactive in seeking solutions when difficulties arise.
In 2008, the true value of her skills was highlighted when she was called upon to take on
additional duties due to staffing shortfalls. With one vacant fiscal position and one
employee on leave, Sam stepped in and took over all the of the department's
purchasing, fiscal and administrative duties without the assistance of a temporary
employee. In these difficult economic times, Sam's commitment to take on additional
tasks without temporary help resulted in a significant cost savings and served as an
additional example of her outstanding value to Collier County. She is truly deserving of
this award.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item presents no legal issues. -JAK
FISCAL IMPACT: The selected "Employee of the Month" receives a $150.00 cash
award. Funds are available in the empioyee's Budget Cost Center.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no growth management impact
associated with this Executive Summary.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners approves the
recognition of Sam Frye as "Employee of the Month" for April 2009.
