EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to reappoint two members to the Animal Services Advisory Board.
OBJECTIVE: To reappoint two members to the Animal Services Advisory Board to four -year terms
expiring on April 13, 2023.
CONSIDERATIONS: This 7-member board was created on January 27, 2004 by Ordinance No. 2004-
06 to make recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners on programs, services, classes and
special events that will further assist Collier County Domestic Animal Services in providing the best
possible service to the community. They also analyze and review construction and improvements to
Domestic Animal Services facilities and make recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners
regarding such facilities. Terms are four years. A list of the current membership is included in the backup.
Two seats on the committee expired on April 13, 2019. The vacancies were advertised and applications
were received from the following:

ATTENDANCE: Mr. Rich has had one excused absence in the past two years, and Cpl. Spartz has had
three excused absences. Attendance records are included in the backup.
COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: At its regular meeting on April 16, 2019, the committee
unanimously voted to recommend that Mr. Rich, representing an Animal Activist Group, and Cpl. Spartz,
representing Law Enforcement, each be reappointed to his seat on the committee, to four -year terms
expiring on April 13, 2023. A recommendation memo is included in the backup.
FISCAL IMPACT: None.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: None.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners adopts the Committee
Recommendation, and directs the County Attorney to prepare a resolution confirming the reappointments.
