EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to reappoint two members to the Water and Wastewater Authority.
OBJECTIVE: To reappoint two members to the Water and Wastewater Authority, to four -year terms
expiring on May 21, 2023.
CONSIDERATIONS: This five-member authority was established on February 27, 1996, by Ordinance
No. 96-6 to regulate utility rates and related matters regarding non-exempt water and wastewater utilities
in unincorporated Collier County. Three members shall be technical in nature, with ex pertise in
engineering, finance and/or business administration. The remaining two members shall be appointed on
the basis of individual civic pride, integrity, and experience in any area of regulation. Members are
required to file a Form 1 Statement of Financial Interests each year with the Supervisor of Elections.
Terms are four years. A list of the current membership is included in the backup.
Three seats on this authority expire on May 21, 2019. The pending vacancies were advertised and
applications were received from the following:

ATTENDANCE: During the past two years, Ms. Sherry has had only one absence (excused) and Mr.
Ricardo has had two absences (excused).
STAFF RECOMMENDATION: That Ms. Sherry and Mr. Ricardo each be reappointed to their
respective seats on this authority. Recommendation memos are included in the backup.
FISCAL IMPACT: None.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: None.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners adopts the Staff Recommendation,
and directs the County Attorney to prepare a resolution confirming the reappointments.
