PROCLAMA TION
ItVHEREAS, the National Day of Prayer is a day set aside by Congress for all Americans
to pray and reaffirm the spiritual principles upon which this nation was
founded: and.
WHEREAS, in Collier County we are fortunate to have been blessed by our Creator with
beautiful beaches, rivers, lakes, fields, forests, and people who, through
hard work and intellectual effort and toil. have made countless cultural,
industrial, agricultural. and educational advancements for the enrichment of
life for al! our citizens: ~nd.
WHEREAS, prayer has comforted us in times of sorrow and given us strength and hope
for the future. We ask God to keep His hand upon us and bless Collier
County, the great State of Florido, and the United States of America: and,
WHEREAS, we continue to give thanks for the men and women of the military that are
defending freedom, and we humbly ask God for their protection and pray for
peace throughout the world: and,
WHEREAS, this year is the 5/1" anniversary of the consecutive annual observance of the
National Day of Prayer, based on Hebrews 4:16, "Let us then approach the
throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find
grace to h{!/p us in our time of need,'" and,
WHEREAS, on May 7, 2009, Americans across our nation, state, and county will unite in
prayer to give thanks for the many blessings our country has received and
pray for Gods blessings and protection upon our leader and our nation.
NOW THEREFOR€, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissr'oners of Collier
County, Florida, that May 7, 2009; be designated as
NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER
