EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Commissioner request for Board approval for payment to attend function serving a valid
public purpose.
OBJECTIVE: For the Board of County Commissioners to declare a valid public purpose for a
Commissioner to attend function/cvent and approve payment by the Clerk,
CONSIDERATIONS: Pursuant to resolution No. 99-410, the Board of County Commissioners
has determined that attendance at the functions of fi'aternal, business, environmental,
educational, chmitable, social, professional, trade, homeowners, ethnic, and civic
associations/organizations serves a valid public purpose, provided that said functions reasonably
relate to Collier County matters,
COMMISSIONER: Jim Coletta
FUNCTION/EVENT: Leadership Collier "Campaign for Lcadership" on April 24-25, 2009 in
Naples, Florida,
PUBLIC PURPOSE: Meet and interact with local business lcadcrs,
DATE OF FUNCTION/EVENT: April 24-25, 2009
FISCAL IMPACT: $35.00 Funds to bc paid 11-0111 C0111missioner's travel budgct.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners, in accordance with
resolution No. 99-410, approve paymcnt by the Clerk lor Commissioner Coletta to attend

First of all thank you for volunteering your time and energy towards this initiative, The
Leadership Collier Foundation is grateful for your collaboration, "Campaign for Leadership"
is a non-partisan program to enlighten, encourage and educate citizen leaders to effectively
engage in local government boards and commissions and/or to run a successful campaign for
elected office,
Please review the foJlowing items and respond as need be;
1) Please review the attached agenda and confirm your speaking date and time, The
times may have adjusted slightly as the agenda was being developed,
2) The Luncheon portion of the program will be held at The Collier Athletic Club and the
rest of the program will be held at The Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce
Building, 2nd Floor LCF Conference Room,
3) Please arrive at least 15-minutes prior to your speaking time.
4) If you have not done so already, please forward me an updated copy of your bio,
This will be used for your introduction and included in the Resource Binders that will be
distributed to workshop participants.
5) Please prepare a one-page handout which can be included in the Resource
Binder. This handout should be a point-by-point of your presentation and should
highlight your main speaking objectives, You may also want to share resources, book
title recommendations, websites, articles, etc.., We are not requesting that you
make copies. Please just forward the document(s) to me and our office will make the
copies, If you already have a printed handout that you would like to include, than we
will make for arrangements to include it in the binder. Please provide by Fri~ARril
lIth, leaving us time to put together the binders,
6) Contact me directly if you are interested in attending the Kick-off Luncheon at the
Collier Athletic Club or the Full Workshop, We are offering a discount for all
speakers; $15 for the Kick-off Luncheon, and $35 for the Full Program (this includes the
Kick-off Luncheon),
