EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation that the Board of County Commissioners approve the submittal of
a Grant Application to Visit Florida in the amount of $5,000 to offset some of the
cost of a Cultural Arts brochure for Collier County and authorize the Tourism
Director to sign the grant application.
OBJECTIVE: Obtain approval to submit a grant application to Visit Florida for a
Cultural Heritage grant to offset some of the cost of a new Cultural Arts brochure for
Collier County.
CONSIDERA TIONS: Visit Florida is our state tourism organization and offers an
annual grant program to encourage the development of marketing programs to promote
the many cultural, heritage, nature and rural tourism offerings in Florida. The grant
program offers up to $5,000 in matching grant funds to applicants. As a Visit Florida
partner, the Naples, Marco Island Everglades Convention & Visitors Bureau is able to
apply for this grant assistance.
The total amount of this project is $40,493 that is in our approved FY 09 marketing
budget. This includes the design, production and printing of this Cultural Arts brochure
and is the first time a document of this type has been produced for the entire County. The
CVB has obtained letters of support from several community organizalions including the
Marco Island Historical Society. Marco Island Chambcr of Commerce, United Arts
Council of Collier County, The von Liebig Art Center and the Naples Historical Society.
FISCAL IMPACT: The total cost of the project is $40,493 and is in the approved
Tourism Departmcnt FY 09 budget for markcting. The grant, if fully funded, would
rcduce our cost to $35,493.
