EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation for the Board of County Commissioners to award RFP No. 08-
5128 for the provision of Pharmacy Services for the Social Services Program to
Sunshine Pharmacy, Inc. and Collier Health Services.
OBJECTIVE: To assist low income Collier County residents with prescription costs.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Collier County Housing and Human Services Department,
Social Services Program assists Collier County residents who are 100% or below the
Federal Poverty Income Guidelines with prescription costs. Uninsured residents that
are assisted by this program are chronically ill with limited or no financial resources.
On September 15, 2008, a formal request for proposals was posted in the lobby of the
Purchasing Building. Thirty two firms downloaded the RFP. On October 10, 2008
proposals from three (3) firms were received.
A Selection Committee meeting was held on November 25, 2008 and after review,
scoring and discussion of the proposals, by consensus of the members, Collier Health
Services was considered best qualified to provide these services to the Immokalee area
and Sunshine Pharmacy, Inc. to serve the Greater Naples area.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT: There is no growth management impact due to this
request.
FISCAL IMPACT: The Client Assistance prescription program currently has a budget of
$550,000 in cost center 155930.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed and approved by lhe
County Attorney's Office. This item is not quasi judicial, and as such ex parte disclosure
is not required. This item requires majority vote only. This item is legally sufficient for
Board action.-CMG
RECOMMENDATIONS: That the Board of County Commissioners awards RFP No. 08-
5128 for Pharmacy Services to Collier Health Services and Sunshine Pharmacy, Inc.
and further authorizes the Chairman to sign the standard County Attorney approved
contracts.
