Development in Immokalee
Dear Mr. Goldmeier:
Please be advised that you are scheduled to appear before the Collier County Board of
Commissioners at the meeting of April 14, 2009 regarding the above referenced subject.
Your petition to the Board of County Commissioners will be limited to ten minutes.
Please be advised that the Board will take no action on your petition at this meeting.
However, your petition may be placed on a future agenda for consideration at the
Board's discretion. If the subject matter is currently under litigation or is an on-going
Code Enforcement case, the Board will hear the item but will not discuss the item after it
has been presented. Therefore, your petition to the Board should be to advise them of
your concern and the need for action by the Board at a future meeting.
The meeting will begin at 9:00 a.m. in the Board's Chambers on the Third Floor of the W.
Harmon Turner Building (Building "F") of the government complex. Please arrange to be
present at this meeting and to respond to inquiries by Board members.

The property is io..aled on ImmDkalee Road at the comer of School Road at the
entrance 10 both the ...dl6.Q casino and the area planned for future expansion of the
reservation. The casino h8s reeeh'1Iy doubled its capacity as well as the number of
employees at the facllity. Whle there are other ..lfutdable housing de\leIopmenIB
flll8nced with tax crediIB and other government programs in the area that haye
vacancies, none are close to the UISino nor appeal to casino employe " As al1l8Ult a
large percenlage of the casino employMs live in Lee County.
We believe that providing new and attractive housing within walking distance to the
casino wiD appeal to casino employees and enable Coller County to take advantage of
the economic QS*'8lDr the casino I'8pI'8lI8Ots_ It is poe<p"le that a portion of the
p1anrted project can also be ..",,"ad to farm workers and service WClrMrs who pntfer
living in Immokalee because family ties and other reasons.
The first step in the process of seeking S1a1e and Federal sponsored financing is filing
an appIic8tionwhich _as Psrt of the ~'lon a farm that ill JeQuDd to be si;ned
by the appropriale oIIiolaI indicatll.g the Ioc8l govemment is providing some sort of
financial contribution 10 the development of the project. Collier County has traditionaUy
used Its impect fee deferral ordinance for thai purpose. For that reason we are
respeMfuUy requesting the Bce authorize the impact fee defemII form provided by
Florida Housing be signed in time for the May 2d" application deadline.
