WH€REAS, April 19, 2009 through Apr1'l 2~ 2009 is designated as National Volunteer
Week; and.
WHEREAS, volunteers are on integral part of Collier County,: and.
WHEREAS, volunteers have shown that they truly care and share. the generosity of
themselves: and,
WHEREAS. volunteers reflect the power to ''inspire by exomple~. and,
WHEREAS. volunteers both encourage those they help and motivate others to serve; and,
WHER€AS. Collier County offers many opportunities for citizens who wish f(J volunteer in a
variety of different service areas: and.
WHEREAS, Collier County ;s the proud sponsor of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program:
and,.
WHeREAS, Collier County utilizes volunteers in Domestic Animal Services, Public Libraries,
all Museums. Parks and Recreation, Veterans Services, and University &tension
Services through the 4~H and Master Gardeners programs: and,
WHEREAS, Callier Caunty has 2,238 volunteers who help the Co"nty further its mission and
cantribute 153, J 95 hours of service annually, representing more than
$3, 059, 707 in savings for Collier County government: ane/,
WHeREAS, we wish to honor and thank the dedicafed citizens of Collier CaCJf1ty, Florida,
who give so freely of their valuable time, energy, and abl1ities.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Boorc/ of County Commissioners of Collier County,
Florido, that the week af April 19, i!OO9 thrau9h April i!5, i!009, be designated
as
NA770NAL VOLUNTEER WEE:/( IN COlLIER COUNTY
and, In doing so, we call on all citizens to help renew and sustain the spirit and
vitality of this great nation by committing a portion of their time in addressing
the needs of their community through voluntary action.
