EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to award Contract #09-5114, "Naples Station Museum Phase III"
to White General Construction, Inc., in the amount of $440,000 to complete
historical restoration and renovation of the Naples Depot Museum and authorize
the Chairman to execute a standard Contract following County Attorney
Approval.
OBJECTIVE: To obtain Board approval to award Contract #09-5114, "Naples Station Museum
Phase III" to White General Construction, Inc., in the amount of $440,000 to complete the
historical restoration and building renovation of the Naples Depot Museum.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Collier County Museum issued an Invitation to Bid (ITB) #09-5114 to
complete historical restoration work on the Naples Depot Museum. Nine (9) firms submitted bids
for the project by the deadline, September 11, 2008, as summarized below:
Build LLC (Collier County) $709,73700
JAWMAC (Unknown) $588,200.00
PBS (Collier County) $585,151.00
Taylor Pansing (Lee County) $569,33700
Professional Construction Mgmt (Collier County) $552,790.00
VBC (Collier County) $549.000.00
BCBE (Collier County) $521.416.00
Coralsands (Charlotte County) $453,06500
White General Construction, Inc. (Collier County) $440,000.00
The lowest, qualified and responsive bidder was White General Construction, Inc. with a bid of
$440,000.
Subsequent to opening and ranking the bids, the City of Naples Building Review and Permitting
Department informed County staff that installation of a complete fire sprinkler system would be
required in the Naples Depot as part of the building restoration process. A fire sprinkler system
is being professionally engineered and designed and will be bid and awarded separately.
FISCAL IMPACT: Funding to complete the renovation of the Naples Depot Museum is currently
available in the Museum's Fiscal Year 2009 Capital (Fund 314) budget.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: While this action has no direct impact, it is consistent with
Collier County's goals to streamline and expedite the procurement of services.
LEGAL CONSIDERATION: This item is not quasi-judicial, and as such ex parte disclosure is
not required. This item requires majority vote only. This item is legally sufficient for Board
action. - CMG
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners award Contract #09-5114,
"Naples Station Museum Phase iii", to the firm of White General Construction, inc., in the
amount of $440,000 and authorize the Chairman to execute a standard County contract,
following County Attorney approval.
