EXECUTIVESU~RY
RECOMMENDATION THAT THE COLLIER COUNTY BOARD OF
COMMISSIONERS APPROVE A RESOLUTION, PURSUANT TO SECTION
]01.001(1), FLORIDA STATUTES, TO ALTER PRECINCT BOUNDARIES IN
PRECINCTS 554 AND 59] AND IN PRECINCTS 50] AND 550 CHANGING
THE BOUNDARY BETWEEN THOSE PRECINCTS TO FOLLOW THE
BOUNDARY LINE OF THE GOLDEN GATE F]RE CONTROL AND
RESCUE DISTIRCT.
OBJECTIVE: To obtain the Board's approval of a Resolution altering the boundaries of
Precincts 554 and 591 and Precincts 501 and 550 to follow the boundary lines of the Golden
Gate Fire Control and Rescue District.
CONSIDERATIONS: Florida Statute !l 101.001 gives authority to the Board of County
Commissioners to alter or create precincts for voting in the county. The purpose of these
changes is to better facilitate the administration of elections and provide more convenient polling
places for the affected voters. In the ca~e of the affected voters currently in Precinct 501, their
new polling place will be twelve miles closer to their residences; affected voters in Precinct 591
will vote approxirnately four miles closer to their residences. This change will also remove
precinct splits from Precinct 50 I and Precinct 59 I.
FISCAL IMP ACT: There is no fiscal impact associated with this Executive Summary.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed and approved by the County
Attorney's Office, is not quasi-judicial and requires no ex parte disclosure, requires only a
majority vote for approval, and is otherwise legally sufficient for Board action.-SRT
GROWTH MANAGEMENT: 1l1ere is no impact to the Growth Management Plan associated
with this Executive Summary.
RECOMMENDATION: 1bat the Board of County Commissioners approve a Resolution
altering precinct boundaries between Precincts 554 and 591 and Precincts 501 and 550 to follow
the boundary of the Golden Gate Fire Control and Rescue District and authorizing its Chairman
to sign the attached Resolution reflccting those changes.

RESOLUTION 2009-
A RESOLUTION PURSUANT TO SECTION 101.001(1), FLORIDA STATUTES,
ALTERING PRECINCT BOUNDARIES BETWEEN PRECINCT 554 AND
PRECINCT 591 AND BETWEEN PRECINCT 501 AND PRECINCT 550.
WHEREAS, ]01.001(1), Florida Statutes, authorizes the Board of County
Commissioners in each county. upon recommcndation and approval of the Supervisor of
Elections, to alter or create precincts for voting in the county; and
WHEREAS, such recommendation and approval has been given by the
Supervisor of Elections to alter Precincts 554 and 591 and 501 and 550 to: (I) reduce
votcr confusion by ensuring that voters arc placed at a polling site as close as possible to
their residence and, (2) rcflecl true boundaries for precincts based on the Golden Gate
Fire District and Rescue Control boundary line: and
WHEREAS, each precinct is numbered and. as nearly practical, composed of
contiguous and compact areas and the Supervisor of Elections has designated or will
designate a polling place at a suitable location within each precinct; and
WHEREAS, the Supervisor of Elections, in accordance with 101.001(3), Florida
Statutes, will maintain a suitable map drawn to sealc no smaller than 3 milcs to the inch
and c1carly delineating all major observable features such as roads, streams, and railway
lines and showing the current geographical boundaries of each precinct, representative
district, and senatorial district, and other lype of district in the county subject to the
elections process in tbe Florida Statutes: and
WHEREAS, The Supervisor of Elections will notify the Sccretary of State in
v,Titing within 30 days of this reorganization of precincts and will furnish a copy of the
map showing the current geographical boundaries and designation of each altered
precinct, in accordance with 101.00 I (3), Florida Statutes; and
WHEREAS, within 10 days after the precinct changes recommended herein are
adopted, the Supervisor of Elections will post a copy of the document describing such
changes in thc Supervisor's oillce, in accordancc with 10] .00] (4), Florida Statutes.
NOW, THEREORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA that the precincts of the
following boundaries are altcred as follows:
1. The boundary between Precinct 554 and 591 is altered such that the
boundary becomcs the boundary line separating the Goldcn Gate Fire &
Rescue District ffom the Big Corkscrew Island Fire & Rescue District.

2. The boundary between Precinct 501 and 550 is altered to follow the
boundary of the Golden Gate Fire and Rescue District.
3. Copies of the legal descriptions corresponding to the aforementioned
boundary alterations. prepared by the S.upervisor of Elections, are attached
hereto and incorporatcd herein as exhibits.
THIS RESOLUTION is adopted after motion, second, and majority
favoring adoption this March 24, 2009.
