PROCLAMA TION
WHEReAS, the Community School of Naples offers a total of 30 interscholastic sports
teams with varsity teams that provide students the opportunity to compete at
the district, regional. and state levels: and.
WHEReAS, The Department of Athletics at the Community School of Naples is committed to
being on integral part of the overall educational experience offered by the
school and its students: and,
WHEREAS, the schools girls cross country team won the 2008 Class 1 A State Championship
- the second year in 0 row to accomplish that feat: and,
WHEREAS. the girls cross country team - under the direction of coach Cassie Barone - was
the only team in the state among all classifications to go undefeated: and,
WHEREAS, the Community Schoo/ of Naples is also celebrating the success of the gir/s
basketball team which recentfy won the state Class 2A Championship in
competition at Lakeland: and.
WHEREAS, the girls basketball team - under the leadership of Coach Mitch Woods - is only
the second school in southwest Florida to win a basketball state championship:
and.
WHEREAS, the Community School of Naplesl although known as a rigorous academic
institution, is extremely proud of the efforts of a/I of its student athletes ane/,
in particular, the state champkm Seahawks girls cross country team and state
champion Seahawks girls basketball team.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County,
Florida, that March Z4~ 2009, be designated as
Community School of Naples State Championship Day
