Agenda 03/10/2009 Item #13A Agenda Item No. 13A March 10, 2009 Page 1 of 2 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY PRESENTATION OF THE COMPREHENSIVE ANNUAL FINANCIAL REPORT FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDED SEPTEMBER 30, 2008. OBJECTIVE: Presentation of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the fiscal year ended September 30, 2008. CONSIDERATIONS: The Clerk of the Circuit Court serving in the capacity as Ex-Officio Clerk to the Board of County Commissioners is responsible for coordination of the annual independent audit along with the production of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. In this role, the Clerk is pleased to present to the Board the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year ended September 30, 2008, which includes the Government Finance Officers Association Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the fiscal year ended September 30, 2007. The CAFR represents a significant investment of effort by both the Finance and Accounting Department and County staff. We would like to express our sincere appreciation to Ernst and Young LLP, the Board, the other Constitutional Officers, the County Manager, the County Attorney, the Division Administrators and the Department Directors for their assistance during the CAFR process. The CAFR package delivered to the Board also includes an unaudited report on debt for fiscal year 2008. This report is required by the County's Debt Management Policy, GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMP ACT: There is no growth management impact. LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: There are no legal considerations outside the requirement to have an annual audit. FISCAL IMPACT: There is no fiscal impact. RECOMMENDATION: That the Collier County Board of County Commissioners accepts the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report and the debt report for the period ended September 30, 2008.
