EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Approve the necessary budget amendment from the Ochopee Fire Control
District reserves in the amount of $120,000 for the purpose of renovating
Port of the Islands Marina to be used as a Fire Station
OBJECTIVE: To obtain Board of County Commissioner's approval for a budget
amendment in the amount of $120,000 to renovate the Port of the Islands Marina
in order to convert the building into a Fire Station for the Ochopee Fire Control
District.
CONSIDERATIONS: On December 16, 2008 item 10A the Board of County
Commissioners approved the purchase of the Port of the Islands Marina. Since
that date the purchase has been completed and the property has been attained.
In order for Ochopee Fire Control District to occupy the building some
renovations must take place to house personnel and apparatus, therefore, it is
necessary to transfer funds from fhe District's reserves in the amount of
$120,000 to accomplish this. This is a much awaited event for the populous of
Port of the Islands due to property insurance issues. Approval of the budget
amendment will allow our District to move forward and complete this transition
that has begun by enhancing fire/rescue protection in Collier County.
FISCAL IMPACT: The renovations at the Port of the Islands Marina for the Fire
Station will be funded from the Ochopee Fire Control District Reserves Fund 146
in the amount of $120,000.
LEGAL CONSIDERATION: This item has been reviewed and approved by the
County Attorney's Office, is not quasi-judicial and requires no ex parte disclosure,
requires only a majority vote for approval, and is otherwise legally sufficient for
Board action.-SRT
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no Growth Management impact
associated with this Executive Summary.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners approve the
necessary budget amendment for the renovations at the Port of the Islands
Marina for the purpose of converting the structure into a Fire Station.
