Appointment of member(s) to the Emergency Medical Services Policy Advisory Board

OBJECTIVE: To appoint 5 members to the newly created Emergency Medical Policy
Advisory Committee.
CONSIDERATIONS: This Board was created on January ]3,2009 by Ordinance 2009-01. The
purpose of this Board is to review and advise the Board of County Commissioners on all issues
concerning pre-hospital emergency medical services within Collier County. They will hear all disputes
arising out of the ALS Engine Interlocal Al,'l"eements between Collier County and the various fire
districts, and make written recommendations to the Board of County COlIunissioners for resolution of
such disputes; they will work to improve and enhance pre-hospital emergency medical care within Collier
County; review and make written recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners on all
changes to established protocol and practices recommended by the Medical Director's Quality Assurance
Committee; and, make its special knowledge and expertise available to the Board of County
Commissioners upon written request by the Board of County Commissioners.
The committee will consist of 5 members: I Emergency Room Physician, I Emergency Room Nurse, and
I Pharmacist to be recommended by the Collier County Medical Society; 1 member representing the Fire
Chiefs Association; and, 1 representative from EMS. After initial staggered terms, appointments will be
for 4 years.
Letters were sent to the Collier County Medical Society and the Fire Chiefs' Association and
resumes were received from the fo llowing 6 interested citizens:
