Appointment ofmember(s) to Collier County Code Enforcement Board
OBJECTIVE: To appoint 4 members to serve 3-year terms, expiring on February 14, 2012, to
the Collier County Code Enforcement Board.
CONSIDERA nONS: The Collier County Code Enforcement Board has 4 terms expiring on
February 14, 2009. This 7 member board, plus 2 alternate members, is composed of, but not
limited to, individuals representing the occupations of architect, businessman, engineer, general
contractor, subcontractor and Realtor and are considered, in part, on the basis of experience or
interest in the areas of the codes and ordinances to be enforced. Members are required to file a
Form 1 Statement of Financial Interest each year with the Supervisor of Elections. TelIDS are 3
years. A list of the current membership is included in the backup.
The terms for Robert F. Kaufman (Alternate), Gerald J. Lefebvre (Regular), George P. Ponte
(Regular) and Larry Dean Mieszcak (Regular) will expire on February 14, 2009. A press release
was issued and resumes were received from the following 4 interested citizens:

RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners consider the
recommendation for appointment, appoint 4 members, and direct the County Altomey to prepare
a resolution confirming the appointments.

of applications submitted by a citizens interested in serving on the Code Enforcement
Board. The applications for the applicants listed below were reviewed and meet the
Code Enforcement Board qualifications stated in Ordinance 2001-55, Section Five:

Leadership for communities to work together is a unique skill and beliei system that our mOst
talented civil servants possess and act on. lanry Dean is one of those individualsl He worked
tirelessly to bring people and agencies together for the betterment of Villa Park. its residents and the
schools. Trustee Dean has made a difference in the village by providing leadership for others to
become involved in meaningful projects.
Trustee Dean's work with the Villa Park Rotary Is one example of his persistence for providing
leadership for community service. His leadership in the Rotary has created positive relationships
between Rotary and the Village of Villa Park. Whenever something needed doing, tart)' was the""
to make sure It was done In a first class way-everyone benefited.

Trustee Dean's leadership affected Willowbrook High School and Dupage High School District 88.
He was committed to having great places for studen~ to h~arn and supported the school leadership
in striving for Improvement and community involvement. He always asked about the progress
being made in the school and how our students were doing in planning their futures. His
compassion for students and quality programs was a constant topic bl!tween us.
