OBJECTIVE: To appoint 3 members to serve 3-year terms expiring on February 11,2012 to
the Conservation Collier Land Acquisition Advisory Committee.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Laud Acquisition Advisory Committee has 3 terms expiring on
February II, 2009. This 9-member committee was created by Ordinance No. 2002-63 and their
primary responsibility is to recommend to the BCC an Active Properties Acquisition List with
qualified purchase recommendations of environmentally sensitive lands consistent with the goals
of the Conservation Collier Land Acquisition Program. Membership of the committee shall
comprise broad and balanced representation including environmental and conservation interests,
agricultural and business interests, educational interests, and general civic and citizen interests
within the County. Members shall have expertise, knowledge or interest in ecology,
conservation of natural resources, rcal estate or land acquisition, land appraisal, land
management, eco-tourism or environmental education. A list of the current membership is
included in the backup.
The terms for Willis P. Kriz, John C. Staiger and Wayne Jenkins will expire on February II,
2009. A press release was issued and resumes were received from the following 3 interested

Recommendation for Conservation Collier Committee appointments
On January 12,2009, the Conservation Collier Land Acquisition Advisory Committee
(CCLAAC) met at their regularly scheduled monthly meeting and discussed the applications of
three (3) persons to fill the three (3) vacancies created one resignation (Jon Staiger) and the
ending of two other terms of service (Wayne Jenkins and Will Kriz). Three applications were
received.
After discussion, a motion was made and seconded for the CCLAAC to recommend the three
applicants to fill the three vacancies. The motion was approved by a unanimous 8-0 vote. The
applicants are identified below.
I. Jeremy Sterk - recommended for appointment
2. Dr. George J. Wilder - recommended for appointment
3. Thomas Sobczak - recommended for appointment
