PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, Shirlee Borcic moved to Marco Is/and thirty-five years ago in 1974.
She has dedicated an unprecedented amount of those years to
volunteerism. gilling so much of herself to the community of cast
Naples and Collier County; and.
WHEREAS, fifteen years ago, Shirlee Sarcic became a founding member of the
MarcD Kiwanis Club and has served three terms as president: and.
WHEREAS, Shirlee Borcic was a founding member of the Naples-Marco
Philharmonic, which would later become the nationally renowned
Naples Philharmonic Ce.nter for the Arts, when it started back in
1982: and,
WHEREAS. Shirlee Borcic has organized a fashion show fundraise,. event for the
past five years to benefit the PACE Center for Girls in Immokalee
where she a/so serves on the Capital Building Cabinet: and,
WHEREAS.. Shirlcl! Borcic is a/so on the Board of Directors of Marco Island Civic
Association, Physicians Regiona/ Heolthcare System, and the United
Arts Council: and..
WHEREAS.. Shirlee Borcic was recently presented the Jefferson Award by the
Naples Daily News and the Scripps Southwest Florida Group for her
outstanding volunteerism. The Jefferson Award is presented hath
locally and nationally and was established in 1972 to create a Nobel
Prize for exemplary community and public service.
NOW THEREFORE.. be it proclaimed by the Board, of County Commissioners of
Callier County, Florida. that February 10, 2009, be designated as
Shirlee Barcic Day
