Agenda 02/10/2009 Item # 4B j:I:.~enda Item No. 48 -February 10, 2009 Page 1 of 2 PROCLAMA TION WHEREAS, Collier County is zId in the United States with properties in the foreclosure process, ranks 11th in the State for foreclosure action, and foreclosure filings in Collier County have increased 118 percent from last year: and, WHEREAS, Colher County's Code Enforcement Departments Blight Prevention Program was implemented to address health. safety, and welfare issues,' stabilize prtJperty values and property tax revenues; and prevent blight in the community; and, WHEREAS, the Blight Prevention Program combined efforts and resources from five community task force teams including the Immokalee Task Force, North Naples Task Force, Golden Gate City Task Force, Golden Gate Estates Task Force and East Naples Task Force along with several Community Task Force Members including but not limited to Code Enforcement, Utility Enforcement, Department of Environmental Protection. Solid Waste, North Naples Fire, east Naples Fire, Immokalee Fire, Pollution Control, Domestic Animal Services, Fish and Wildlife, Civic Associations, Home Owner Associations, Naples Utility, Collier County Health Department, Naples Chamber of Commerce and Collier County Foreclosure Task Force: ami WHEReAS, this outreach by Code Enforcement is providing voluntary compliance without enforcement in an effort to combat blight in the area during these difficult economic times; and, WHEREAS, Collier County's Code Enforcement Department's Blight Prevention Program /s responding t{J constituents and community concerns on foreclosed homes and taking a pro-active approach to provide resources for citizens /n need of assistance in an effort to maintain homeownership and keep properties maintained in an orderly fashion to assist in stabilizing properly values. NOW THEREFORE,. be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida, that the Collier County Code Enforcement Department be congratulated and commended for their exemplary efforts in stabHizfng property values by voluntary code compliance in the Blight Prevention Program.
