EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to award Bid No. 08-5097, "Annual Contract for Chlorinator Equipment
Maintenance" to Water Treatment & Controls, Company in the estimated annual amount
of $80,000.
OBJECTIVE: The object is to obtain approval from the Board of County Commissioners, Ex-
Officio the governing Board of the Collier County Water-Sewer District to award Bid Number
08-5097 for the annual maintenance of chlorination equipment to Water Treatment & Controls,
Company.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Water Department operates and maintains two regional water
treatment plants, the North County Regional Water Treatment Plant and the South County
Regional Water Treatment Plant and three remote pumping stations. These facilities utilize
chlorine and ammonia as part of the disinfection process to treat water to potable drinking water
standards. The Water Department requires a service provider that can perform both preventative
and reactive maintenance on the chlorination equipment at the various sites it maintains.
Bid Number 08-5097 was posted on September 19,2008, with 101 notices being sent out. A
total of seventeen bid packages were downloaded with one bid received. Staff reviewed the one
bid received and after negotiations by the Purchasing Department has deemed the bid to be
acceptable.
FISCAL IMPACT: The exact amount of funds required will be detennined as the chlorination
equipment is repaired. Source of funds will be the Water Operations Fund (408) and Goodland
Water District Fund (441).
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed and approved by the County
Attorney's Office, is not quasi-judicial and requires no ex parte disclosure, requires only a
majority vote for approval, and is otherwise legally sufficient for Board action.-SRT
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: This project meets current Growth Management Plan
standards to ensure the adequacy and availability of viable public facilities.
RECOMMENDA nON: That the Board of County Commissioners, Ex-Officio the governing
Board of the Collier County Water-Sewer District award Bid Number 08-5097 for the annual
maintenance of chlorination equipment to Water Treatment & Controls, Company.
