EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
COMMISSIONER REQUEST FOR BOARD APPROVAL FOR PAYMENT TO
ATTEND FUNCTION SERVING A VALID PUBLIC PURPOSE
OBJECTIVE: For the Board of County Commissioners to declare a valid public
purpose for a Commissioner to attend function /event and approve payment by the Clerk.
CONSIDERATIONS: Pursuant to Resolution No. 99 -410, the Board of County
Commissioners has determined that attendance at the functions of fraternal, business,
environmental, educational, charitable, social, professional, trade, homeowners, ethnic,
and civic association/organizations serves a valid public purpose, provided that said
functions reasonably relate to Collier County matters.
COMMISSIONER: James N. Coletta, Jr.
FUNCTION/EVENT: Immokalee Chamber of Commerce 2009 Dues
PUBLIC PURPOSE: Meet and interact with local business and community leaders.
DATE OF FUNCTION /EVENT: 1/1/2009
FISCAL IMPACT: S 150.00 to be paid from Commissioner Coletta's travel budget.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners, in accordance
with Resolution No. 99 -410, approve payment by the Clerk for Commissioner.lim
Coletta to attend a function serving a valid public purpose.

Dear Chamber Member:
Enclosed is a billing statement for your 2009 Chamber dues showing the base rate
of $150.00 and a copy of the new formula adopted by the board as a result of the
Membership Planning Retreat held last Spring. This new formula is commonly-
referred to as a "Fair Share" formula meaning that larger firms assume a greater
responsibility for financial support of the organization.
Although we have been experiencing a down -turn and slow economic times, we
cannot stop the work of the Chamber to make our community a better place in
which to live, work, raise a family, and enjoy life. We must continue to find new
employment opportunities for our citizenry; improve our schools, our roads; and do
all we can to make our community better.
As we look to the future of Eastern Collier County, Chamber leadership is aware of
Immokalee being the industrial hub meaning more job opportunities, more business
development, more construction, and more people moving into the area. We need
to be in a position to lead this charge.
We would ask that you look over the new formula, find the level that best describes
your business, and using the honor system, submit your check in the proper amount.
Since you are already a member in good standing there is no member set up fee.
We urge you to join one of our committees, participate in our monthly membership
breakfast on the first Wednesday of each month, network with others at one of our
quarterly Business -After -Hours or other activities, and let us help in promoting your
business. And, we thank you in advance for continuing to support the efforts of
your Chamber of Commerce.
