EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to award Bid #08 -5109 in the amount of $146,786.16 to Hannula
Landscaping & Irrigation, Inc., for the Landscape and Fence work at Palm Springs
and Rita Eaton Parks and to approve the necessary budget amendment.
Objective: To provide enhancements at Rita Eaton and Palm Springs Neighborhood
Parks.
Considerations: On July 15, 2008, staff sent a notice of bid #08 -5109 for the landscape
and fence work at Palm Springs and Rita Eaton Parks.
The request for bid included planting new trees and shrubs, mulching around new
plants, irrigation and installing new fence and gates for both Palm Springs and Rita
Eaton Parks. There were 406 notices went out, 9 packages were requested and five
bids were received on August 7, 2008. There were two non - responsive and three
responsive bids. The three responsive bids are:
Hannula Landscaping & Irrigation, Inc., $146,786.16
Crawford Landscaping Group $201,845.00
Chris -Tel Construction $232,475.00
Staff reviewed the bids and recommend awarding the bid to Hannula Landscaping &
Irrigation, Inc., as the lowest qualified and responsive Contractor.
Fiscal Impact: Funds are budgeted from two projects, Rita Eaton, project #80082 and
Palm Springs, project #80077. Funds from Rita Eaton, project #80082 are adequate
however funds from Palm Springs, project #80077 are not adequate and a budget
amendment is necessary. A budget amendment is requested to transfer $30,000.00
from Delasol Neighborhood Park, project #80605 to Palm Springs, project #80077.
Growth Management Impact: The value of the improved facility will be inventoried in
the Growth Management Plan.
Recommendation: That the Board of County Commissioners awards the Bid to
Hannula Landscaping & Irrigation, Inc., in the lump sum amount of $146,786.16 and
approve the budget amendment of $30,000.00 from Project #80605 to project #80077.
